Neil served in the United States Army from Feb. 11, 1953 to Feb. 10, 1955. W. Kerr Plastics in Hastings before moving to Columbus in 1958, where he began his career with Dale Electronics.

Mike was born September 29, 1936, in Leigh, Nebraska, to Elmer and Esther Wurdeman. He attended and graduated from Leigh High School in 1954. Mike graduated from University of Nebraska-Omaha, in 1964, with a B.S. On July 25, 1964, Mike was united in marriage to Beverly Otto in Aurelia, Iowa.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Doris was the executive secretary for Nebraska Schweser stores prior to her marriage to Carol Duane Luchsinger on Sept. 20, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Doris served on the AAL board for more than 15 years and helped with Immanuel Lutheran Sunday School. She had been active in Walther League, sang in the church choir, was a member of the Board of Youth, Card Club, and a sponsor on youth trips. She volunteered her time as a room mother at Platte County District 84 and served on the voting boards of Grand Prairie and Sherman Townships.
